Yes, it is true and occurs mainly in women experiencing periomenopause and menopause.

In the U.S., the average age for women to go through menopause is 51, periomenopause occurs, on average, between 3-8 years earlier. 

You can follow those links to a detailed explanation of all the changes a woman goes through, besides vaginal dryness, which can make sex very painful. There are hormone treatments to try and make up for what is essentially a diminshing supply of Estrogen and Progesterone, but women taking certain anti-cancer drugs, for breast cancer, for instance, often cannot safely take the two together. There are various lubricants too.

Don't worry Darlin .... with a lil help from your man you will be fine. Oral sex is a great thing for females experiencing this problem. I'm 58 and my wife goes through this .. I make sure she is ready before I penatrate.  Good luck !
