Q: Am I more likely to get pregnant while I'm menstruating?

I have an irregular period. Sometimes I get it for a week, a few days, or 2 weeks, but usually no longer, sometimes I even skip a month or so. Its may 16 now and back around I'd say maybe April 20th my boyfriend and I had sex a few times throughout that week which was unprotected. I am getting headaches a lot, and have feeling a little nauseous here and there, and a little gassy. I had gotten my period about a week and a half before that date and was still on it during this time. How possible would it be that I am pregnant? Would I be more likely to get pregnant during this time? Also, would these symptoms be happen so soon?

The only thing that can be said for certain, is that it is possible for you to become pregnant during your period. During a normal period pregnancy is less likely but you say yours varies and so it might be hard to pinpoint when you ovulate.

Some symptoms of pregnancy can show within a few weeks for some women. You can take a home pregnancy test, though you don't say when your last period was. Usually it's best to take it when your normal period has been more than a week late. Your doctor could also test you.
