Q: soreness, pressure pain, dampness, no signs of infection, is this a std or something else?

wow--I cannot stress how many forums I tried.
Ok I have been divorced for 2 years. I had sex once (protected) with a man I recently dated. After all this of course I never had sex with him again. Keep in mind I had sex once PROTECTED. This was 4-5 weeks ago.

after that I never felt the same....not only am I allergic to latex condoms. But this guy actually confused vaginal sex with anal. OUCH. That was a mistake on his part but a painful one on mine. Out of severe paranoia...I went for herpes tests. I only went for that test because a friend of mine told me condoms do not always protect against STDS, and you can still get herpes. I went like 8 days after contact to be tested which on my part was stupid because that was too soon. Everything came back ok.

The pain started out like yeast infection wise, irritating, itchy, discomfort. I took Monistat 3. I also went for a pap smear nothing abnormal came up. The symptoms would get better like I would go a day feeling great. But this week it started again with now pressure, cramping aching pain. I was peeing and its like I only felt the pee half way like my vagina went numb.

I went to my GYN 2 days ago too...she didnt see any signs of infection at all, no discharge, nothing out of a concern.

She did a full culture test this time to see if I had anything lingering.

This dull, pressure achy feeling is kinda annoying. ANY HELP or suggestions? Does it sound like a std or...its SO irritating.. I also in previous weeks felt a burning sensation but when I touch my area nothing hurts. However this morning If i pressed I did feel some ache a bit. OHHH not to forget...it feels dampish down there almost like i peed myself a little. Nothing white or green or yellow...

Sorry Im all over the place my head is fried from overreading and stuff.

Hi there

First of all I commend you for taking the appropriate steps to investigate your symptoms.  It seems that things are reassuring that you do not have an STD and that you have had a thorough check-up from your gynecologist.

I guess I have to ask...were you psychologically ready to have sex again?  It seems that you have a lot of concern over your sexual experience and I am wondering what it may take to make you feel less anxious.

If you still have concerns about your symptoms I would write a log so that you can take this to your doctor or even a second doctor for another opinion.  Sometimes doctors do miss things.

I don't know how old you are but if you are of a certain age for perimenopause for example...there can be a wide variety of symptoms which may seem vague and hard to pin down.

There are also certain vulvar skin conditions which can cause pain and irritation in the vaginal area and may be confused with a yeast infection or herpes.

You don't say where you are feeling pressure but that could be cause by numerous things...ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, endometriosis.

But you say you have been seen by a gynecologist so...I am guessing that your doctor would have checked on all the possible causes for your symptoms.

Write down your symptoms and get a second opinion if necessary.  But also keep in mind that some of this concern may be anxiety based.

Let us know how things turn out.  Thank you for your question.
