Hi there
Two major factors in becoming pregnant are your age and how long you have been trying. If you are in your twenties and you are trying for over a year then you may wish to consult with a fertility specialist. If you are over thirty, you may wish to speak with a specialist if you have been trying for six months or more. There really aren't any set in stone rules however.
If you are having irregular periods...this could be a sign that you are not ovulating consistently. In this case I would definitely schedule an appointment with your doctor or gynecologist to assess if there are any problems with ovulation or otherwise.
I wish you the best of luck. Please do talk to your doctor about this.
Thank you for your question.
