Contrary to popular belief, you can get genital warts without having sex... intimate contact can also spread HPV (ie: touching your partner then touching your skin... )

There are many different strains of HPV that cause different types of warts on your body and can be transferred to your genitals if you touch the warts on your foot and then touch your skin - (say scratch an itch..?) you can transfer the virus to that spot on your body

The best way to tell what type of wart it is would be to go into a doctor..  For more information, look up "warts" on Wikipedia - they have a decent description of what the types of warts look like and the types of HPV that cause them...

Hope this helps..

Also, if you are a female under the age of 26 (and older than 11/12) (or a male in the same category) I would recommend considering guardasil vaccine - it covers the types that are most often associated with cancer of the cervix as well as the penis, anus and vagina..
