Q: If I have genital herpes can I get my uninfected wife pregnant?

Help?

I am the mother of a young adult male that just found out he has Genital herpes. We are conserned that he will never be able to have children. Will he ever be able to have unprotected sex with an uninfected partner? And if so when and how is the safest way?

I'll send you over to a lot of information on Health Central's HerpesConnection site. Having genital herpes does not make someone sterile, so it will not prevent pregnancy. The uninfected partner does have a risk for contracting this disease.

The above link explains that if she would contract genital herpes, it can be spread to the infant during a vaginal delivery, and often a cesarean section is recommended. However that article discusses other possibilities with the use of drugs. I hope it helps you.
