Hi Bernice:

Sorry, but I'm not grasping the question correctly.  It sounds like from age 21 to 31, you have used no form of birth control, and have had one child during that time.  But, you inquire about immunity to a hormonal birth control pill after 14 years.  What I don't understand is the 14 years.  Are you saying after a woman has used the pill for 14 years, can it fail because she develops an immunity? And if you haven't used the pill for 10 years, why ask about the number 14 years?  More information would perhaps help answer what is on your mind.

Yes, a woman can get pregnant while on the pill.  It is a very low risk, but for some women it does happen.  See the pill does several things, and sometimes those things don't work.  One is it reduces your body's ovulation.  It doesn't stop it though, as many people think.  It also reduces the fertilized egg's chance of implantation in the womb.  But not always.  If both of those things happen, and the woman has had seed inside her when she ovulatd, she can get pregnant.  Its less than 1% chance.  For some women, they have a family history of becoming pregnant even when using the pill correctly.  Their body overrides it.  The time of 14 years has no effect.  It could happen the first month used, or the last month used, or anywhere in between for any period of time.  I hope that helps.

WE KNOW THERE IS NOTHING THAT IS 100% EFFECTIVE. THAT WAS NOT THE QUESTION. EXCEPT FOR ABSTINENCE. WE WERE JUST CURIOUS IF THERE WAS SUCH A THING AS GETTING IMMUNE TO THE PILL. EXAMPLE: PEOPLE SOMETIMES GET IMMUNE TO ANTIBIOTICS WHEN YOU TREAT INFECTION WITH THE SAME MEDICATION.  SIMPLE YES OR NO. THANKS FOR TRYING TO HELP.
