Q: could this be a ruptured ovarian cyst?
I have been having irregular periods and irregular bleeding the past few months. Along with that, I have been having sharp stabbing pains in my lower pelvic areas on both sides. I have taken a ton of laxitives thinking that there is the possibility that I am full of it, but the pain has not let up any whatsoever. If anything, It has gotten worse. I have also been very bloated, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it. The pain is many times so bad that I get dizzy and almost pass out. Tylenol does not touch the pain, and I cant take motrin or anything like that. The pain is worrisome and it is kinda scary. But there is a catch.
Two years ago, I had my tubes tied. Last July when I went for my annual at the local health department, they did not say anything about me having cysts. Of course, they did not really pay attention to me at all when I told them of some of the other symptoms that I was having, heavy bleeding, loss of libido, painful periods...But I am only 27 years old. The pap that they sent off came back fine, but the cells that they put on the slide and looked at under the microscope was not normal. Like I said, I am only 27. Way too young for any kind of cancer or anything like that. PCOS runs in my family bad. My mom had one cyst the size of a grapefruit on one side and one the size of an orange on the other side. She also had multiple cysts on top of cysts. My grandma had the same, her mother died from a ruptured cyst and then my great, great grandma on that same side was a heavy bleeder from what we know of her.
Is there the possibility that I could have been misdiagnosed? How would ovarian cysts be diagnosed? Is there reason to be scared, or am I just over reacting to some kind of freakish excruciating pain that has no cause?
