You will need to have a gynecologist exam you to determine why this has been going on. The Mayo Clinic recommends seeing a doctor if you are 16 and have never had a period, or you have previously menstruated and missed three or more periods in a row. You can follow this link to read more. One of the sections details the possible causes but you should let your doctor determine what the problem may be and what you can do to correct it.
