Q: Brown bleeding with like stringy things around 2 weeks before period up until period started. Possibly pregnant? I'm on BC and took antibiotics for all of last month, could it be from that?

I'm not bleeding as heavy as normal and usually have really bad cramping but don't have any this time. I've been feeling sick in the mornings the past week and have thrown up twice, but I was switched from Omeprazole to Prilosec a couple weeks ago, could that be the reason? I had unprotected sex and he didn't pull out almost exactly a month ago now. Please someone answer soon! Should I take a test? Do I have to wait until I stop bleeding first?

Hi there

So you did have your period?

Antibiotics can have an effect on the effectiveness of your birth control pills.  I am guessing that your stomach symptoms are not related to pregnancy but if you are concerned you can always take a home pregnancy test.

Another option is to call your doctor to discuss your concerns.

I wish you the best.  Thank you for your question.

I think I started it. But I don't even have to wear a tampon all the time, just for a couple hrs then I can take it out for the other half of the day. Can I take a test before I stop bleeding completely or can I take one now?

Hi again

You can take it at any time...I just don't think it will be positive but who knows?  There is implantation bleeding.  Maybe for peace of mind you should just so you don't worry.  Or you can call your gynecologist.

Let us know what happens.
