Q: Married but afraid to have sex, can a gyno help??

my husband and I have been married for QUITE A WHILE.... I am deathly afraid to have sex...I'm still a virgin. Is there anything a gynocologist can do to help? I am very scared of "the first time." I can't seem to get past my fear. We want to have a child. Is there any way a gynocologist might be able to help?

It all depends on your reasons for fearing sexual intercourse.

The doctor would be the place to start, but you will need to be open with the doctor and willing to frankly discuss your fears.

Depending on what they are, if the gynecologist can't help you, they should be able to refer you to the correct doctor or therapist. It may be that sometime your husband would need to accompany you occasionally, since this requires his participation.

I wish other women would chime in about their experiences. I don't think it's uncommon to have some fear, or worry and I do believe you can find the help you need, it is out there, but again, you have to honest and thorough when discussing this. They will not embarrass you, do try and let us how you are doing.
