Q: perimenopause?missed periods?what's the deal?

I am a 31 year-old overweight female with a high stress job that affords me about 5 hours of sleep weeknightly.  I take effexor xr and a daily multivitamin, and am working on weight loss with weight watchers and exercise.  I live with another female, and for the last 3-5 months, neither of us has gotten a period.  my periods have occasionally been irregular, but are ususally right on schedule.  My moods are horrible lately; I am very irritable and tense and sometimes even feel like hitting or kicking someone.  There is no possiblility of pregnancy.  I am just really beginning to worry about my body and my hormones, and the crazy mood swings I've been experiencing. HELP!

You really should talk to the doctor prescribing your medication about the mood swings and aggressive feelings, and you can see your gynecologist to be tested for hormone levels. You seem too young to be experiencing perimenopause.

You are under a lot of stress, with one thing compounding the other, building even more. The doctors know you, your history, the reason for taking Effexor, the challenges you face, current medical conditions and can help you best. You are right to be concerned when your body is trying to tell you something is wrong.  They can help rule out any new problems.
