Q: I have had what I think is a yeast infection for two and a half months.

First, without doing an exam, the urgent care doctor I saw gave me diflucan, which didn't work. When I told my doctor that, she said to take it again. It didn't work, again. She said to go back to urgent care, where the very young doctor there said it looked like bacterial vaginosis and gave me an antibiotic, which made my symptoms a million times worse. They lost my cultures, so I had to go back and see another urgent care doctor, who took cultures which came out negative for anything. I then went to a Registered Nurse Practitioner at the Gynocologist who said she thought I had a yeast infection that may be resistant to the diflucan, so she gave me a three day azole, which didn't work. Then she gave me diflucan again, which didn't work. I just finished the seven day azole treatment, and it didn't work. All three of the last treatments would make me feel better for a little while, but then I would go back to having symptoms when the treatment was over. I'm just not sure what to do from here.I'm 25 years old. I haven't had sex since I first had symptoms. I've been tested for HIV, chlamydia, and gonnorhea and don't have any of them. I have only one sexual partner, same for the last five years, and he has no symptoms. I am on an oral contraceptive, Kariva, which I have been on for four years and has never caused me problems. I have never had a yeast infection before. I have not been drinking alcohol or eating very much sugar, I've been eating a lot of yogurt with live cultures and raw garlic, I have been taking acidophillus tablets on reccomendation of my physician, as well as B complex tablets and a multi-vitamin that is supposed to held rid the body of yeast. I drink a lot of water. I have been taking regular epsom salt baths on reccomendation of my physician.

First, there are no doctors here, this a community for people to ask questions and hopefully get some help or hear others experiences, anything which might be of use to the questioner.

It sounds like you have been through a lot without satisfaction or cure... I can only refer you to an article written on the subject of yeast infection. You may very well be able to write your own by what you have been through.

I hope it is of some use to you and that others reading what you have been through, will have some ideas for you. I wonder if the doctors have been able to say you definitely have a yeast infection. It seems you've been tested for other things, unless I missed something it doesn't seem like you were absolutely diagnosed with that. I think I would insist it be ruled out or in by testing. I probably just missed that you have been, but I did read your question several times.

I'm sorry I can't give you more in the way of help.
