Q: My husband had a severe jock itch on the folds of his thighs/ and I got a vaginal dicharge from it

About a week after we had sex I developed an itchy, lumpy vaginal discharge. Initially, I treated it with Monistat, but it did not go away. I went to see my gyno, he said I had bacterial vaginosis. Prescribed diflucan and metrogel. Twice. It did not help. The itching is less, but I still have a discharge, which looks like green clots/lumps, it does not have any odor, and I do not have any pains. This has been going on for over 6 months now and I am sick of going to my gyno, who keeps giving me the same medications which obviously don't help.

Do you have any suggestions or ideas about what I could possibly be dealing with? Is there any other medications I should try? I am concerned, because this has been going on for a long time now. Thank you very much.

About the only thing I can think of is going to a different doctor for a second opinion. From what I've read, jock itch, if passed to another, gives them jock itch, not a vaginal discharge. For symptoms and more information, like causes and treatment, you can read this article. Links on the left lead to other parts of the article.

That you have a greenish discharge and itching seems to mean you have an infection, or an std. Another doctor may take samples and have them tested, at your request, especially if the first did not, to see exactly what you are dealing with and might prescribe different medications. We're not doctors, so can't give medical advice

It could be BV. Maybe you just need a different antibiotic, or it could be something else. Good luck.
