Q: Nausea after sex?

Sometimes after sex I have intense cramping in my lower abdomen and feel incredibly nauseous. My body feels like it's overheating (sweating and shaking) and a couple of times I have even thrown up! It happens rarely: about once every two months.

I'm in a long-term monogamous, STD-free relationship of over two years. I am on oral contraceptives. My last annual showed nothing out of the ordinary.

Any thoughts on what might be going on??

Hi there

I am wondering if this happens near the time of your period?  Sometimes I will feel this way right before my period.

Have you had a physical lately?  It could be totally unrelated to sex.  Do you ever feel this way otherwise?  Is there any pain during sex?

I am thinking that you might want to see your general practitioner about this.  It would not hurt to make an appointment.

Thank you for your question.
