Q: Early period while on birth control, unprotected sex afterwards...please read!

I am on Mircette birth control, and am currently on my fourth pack. During the last pack, I lost a pill and continued to take the pills a day ahead of schedule (took Thursday on Wednesday, etc.), making it a 27 day cycle rather than 28 days. My "off week" was suppose to begin on Sunday, June 28th, but I got my period on Wednesday, June 24th so a few days early. Could this be a result of taking the pills a day ahead of schedule?

So the last pack was suppose to end on Sat. July 4th, and I would start a new pack on July 5th. To get back on schedule after the 27 day cycle, I didnt take a pill at all on Saturday (so I skipped a pill all together) and started the new pack as normal on Sunday, July 5th. But on Friday, July 3rd, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. Is there any chance I could be/get pregnant? Any information would be helpful!

Hi there

Seriously...I think one needs to be a mathematician to figure this out!  I know you must be worried.  All I can tell you is that if you missed a pill and did not make it up by taking two that day...and you had unprotected sex during that time period then I would say that there may be a slight chance for pregnancy.

I think you should definitely call your doctor and ask about this.  There are definite procedures of what to do when you miss a pill...they should be in the instructions given with your pill pack...please read those instructions.

You will probably be fine but...the only way to know what will happen is to wait for when your period is supposed to come.

I am sorry you have to go through all this worry and anxiety.  I hope things work out for you.
