Q: i have been teated for pid but stillhave all the same symtems as before could i have something else

HI have been to see 5 doctors would you believe and had 5 different diagnosed recently

I undergone 3 weeks of antibiotic drips for PID, i have now finished the treatment and i still have the dishcharge nothing has changed.

I am 52 years old and married

I had a hysterectomy 12 years ago, but i still have my ovaries.

Now i am being told i have Herpies!

What other similar disease could it be, i worry i could have something serious that is not being treated, as this problem has now been going on for 6 months

I don't think we can dispute your doctors. This is a general sexual health site and not geared to give a diagnosis. I'm really sorry you have been going through all this, I know you expected to be well after the first doctor and now you have gone through five.

We really don't know your symptoms except you mention a discharge. The doctors are better able to treat a disease because they do a real examination, take a history, get needed tests done and have access to drugs needed. Not to mention all that training and experience. Lab tests will usually be able to rule Herpes in or out as opposed to PID which is not easy.

I suppose your doctor now is a gynecologist, I don't know about the other four or what they diagnosed. Your best bet is to work with the gynecologist unless you have lost faith in them, then the only option is to try another. I'm very sorry you are suffering like this.

Thank you for your response

The problem is i live in Thailand and as much as i hate to say it, i think some hospitals here are money orientated!

Believe it or not i have had 2 tests done on the dishcharge and 2 ultra sound examinations.

The ultrasounds has shown abrasions which is a complication of PID ( I was told).

I am going home to the U,K next month and will contact doctotrs there>

Three of the doctors are Gynocologist, one i decided to see regular so that we could buid up some kind of history about this was the one diagnosed PID, but when the treatment was finished and went back to her for a check up she changed the diagnoses to Herpes.

My worry is that i have this infection or whatever in my bowel as well and that frightenes me alot.

Anyway wish me luck in the UK.

Thanks again
