Q: No cure for what I have.

I haven't been normal down there for 5 years. It all started with BV years ago. I was scared to see a gyno b/c I've never had any problems down there. It took me a year to finally get treated. By that time, the BV was BAD! I used metronidazole gel and the smell went away temporarily. The BV came back of course, my pap smears were abnormal from then on and I had to get a leep procedure done. I had a high HPV but now it's completely cured.

I kept going back to get treated for BV and recurring yeast infections. Nothing worked. I did everything to try to cure whatever I had. I ate lots of yogurt, wore only cotton underwear, and I even stopped having sex for 2 years b/c it was just too embarrassing. I recently had sex for first time in so long and I had disgusting white thick clumpy discharge, even clear-yellowish rubber discharge during sex. Before I had sex, the smell of my discharge was very acidic and sometimes fishy. The acidic smell was strong at times. I don't have any std's. I still have itching here and there. Sometimes the thick discharge sticks on the labia of my vagina. I've taken so many fluconazole pills that I don't think they're effective anymore.

Something is just NOT RIGHT down there! I am 25 yrs old and this has ruined my confidence and relationships. I feel less of a woman and is completely miserable. Please help, I need some answers :(

I think it's time to be proactive and confront these conditions and insist your doctor does too. If it means going to another doctor because you've lost confidence in your current one, then do it. By everything you mention, you may still have BV and a yeast infection. If anti-fungal cream doesn't work, then you will probably need a course of antibiotics for both of your conditions, assuming there are only two.

You should print your question out, take it to your doctor, or your new doctor and insist that they aggressively treat you, take tests to be sure of what you have, give you effective treatment and that you will take the drugs exactly as they tell you all the way to the end of the medications. Ask that you be again be tested to make sure whatever they found is completely gone.

The thing is, unfortunately, both of those conditions, if that's what you have, can return. Some women are especially susceptible to yeast infections. This link gives a little information about many vaginal problems, including these, but you probably could write a book about them yourself by now.

All you can do is pursue treatment as best you can, I think if you do, much of your time will not be hampered by these conditions, even if they do return now and then. Maybe others here can help think of some things to try.

The BV, if you have it, may need a course of oral antibiotics like Metronidazole, not as a gel, that is something to discuss with the doctor. Other than a different physician, I don't know what you could do. You are trying so hard there has to be some help out there for you. I do hope somehow, you get relief.

Thank you for your input, i also forgot to mention that my last pap smear my doctor tested me for BV and said I didn't have it and it was just a yeast infection. That is why I'm going crazy as to what is wrong with me.. and having realized that it's been 5 years is devastating. Thanks again. I will definitely take your advice. <!--Session data-->
