Q: Getting Mirena IUC taken out, can I be on the pill until its removed?

I want to start on a birth control pill right now, because I am about to get my Mirena taken out on Monday 14 September. I do not want to get pregnant. I want to be able to start on some BC pills to transition to me having the Mirena removed. Please let me know if I can start on BC before it is removed?

Hi there

I have to tell you that I do not know.  It is only several more days.  I would strongly suggest that you call your gynecologist...to ask about this.  Did they give your birth control pills already?

You need to call your doctor.

Thank you for your question.
