Q: Period 3 weeks late should I be worried?

My period is 3 weeks late and I have gotten 3 negitive HPT's this is my second irregular period in three months. We are trying to conceive but I am worried that there may be a problem with me.

In Febuary my period was two weeks late I was not pregnant as I went into the DR for a bllod test.  I got two regular periods after that and now I am three weeks late.  I have taken 3 test all negative.  My husband and I have been trying for about 8 months now with no luck so I am very concerned that there is something wrong with me.  I do have some stress but no more then I did about 4 months ago when this all began. I called my Gyno today and I am going in for a hormone blood test tomorrow but I am concerned that all he will do is say your not pregnant which I already know.  Oh and when I had my PAP back in Febuary they said everything was normal and the tests came back normal.  Am I freaking out for no reason or should I be worried.

Hi there

I can totally understand that right now you must be on an emotional rollercoaster.  You are trying to conceive and I am sure you get excited when you don't get your period...yet you still are not pregnant.

I think you have to be assertive with your doctor to ask if they need to investigate why you are not getting pregnant and also why you have been having irregular periods.  In the meantime here is an article which discusses some reasons for having irregular periods which range from certain medications to cysts to fibroids.  You won't know what the cause is until you are seen.

I am hoping that they will investigate whether or not you are ovulating each cycle or whether or not that is an issue for you.

Don't lose hope.  You are going to be in this for the long haul so you need to proceed methodically to get some answers.

Let us know what happens.  Good luck!
