Q: why would i be getting heavy periods every two weeks?

Hi, I'm a healthy (though overweight) 30 year old woman with one child (4 years old now). For the last four months, I've been getting periods (on the heavy side) that last 4-7 days and are only two weeks apart. What is going on?

Hello

Any time you have irregular bleeding like this it really needs to be investigated by your doctor.  If this has been going on for four month, you really should schedule an appointment with your gynecologist.

Please know that I am not a doctor but some guesses to a cause might include endometriosis, uterine fibroids, or a polyp.  But other things can affect your period including stress, illness, or weight gain or weight loss.  You won't know, however, until you go see your doctor.  I am concerned that you are losing so much blood...you don't want to risk becoming anemic.

Hope this helps some.  Let us know how things go for you.
