Q: brownish discharge for about a week not my period.

I have been on the pill for at least a year. I started having sex about a month ago. I recently had a dual infection both bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection. My doctor prescribed me 2 different drugs to treat flagyl and fluconazole. That same week was my period week. after my period I started my new pack of pills and the 2nd week into it I started to have brownish discharge like the end of my period. However this discharge has been going on for a week. I am concerned, but have never had unprotected sex, and have no other symptoms... Did my medications somehow effect the triphasic pill leading to bleeding? Or is there something else I should be concerned with? I always have my yearly gyno appointments and everything has been fine.

It is always safest, when having just gone through what you have, to contact the treating doctor and ask this question. They are most familiar with your conditions, history and medications. It could be the slow bleeding is related; the doctor would be best able to assess this.

There are many other conditions which could be unrelated but have begun concurrently with your other illnesses. Here is an article by Merely Me, a writer and community leader here about, Bleeding In Between Periods: What Does It Mean?

This may help you make a decision about contacting your doctor for at least reassurance over the phone, or an exam if they feel it is necessary. I would call.
