Q: is it ok to have sex even having a period? is there any effect?

Yes you can have sex during your period.

 

There is some reports in the literature which shows that having an orgasm during your period may relieve cramps. 

 

Having sex during your period won't protect you from STD's however, and in some cases pregnancy might also be a risk.

I would definitely get this checked out.  This is not normal to not have your period for months at a time.  The causes could be anything from ovarian cysts to perimenopause.  You need a doctor to tell you why this is happening.
