You need to contact the prescribing doctor. They need to know if you are suffering side effects and have the opportunity to change the way you take the drug, for instance, with or without food, or switch to something else.
The way it is now, of course, is no good, you aren't going to be protected. If the heartburn and nausea were caused by your drug, it should go away, if not, it may be something else.
This may also go away after taking this birth control pill for a while, that's why you need to contact the doctor and seek their advice, and if you want to switch to another drug, you can tell them you prefer not to take the current one.
