Q: late period, can i be pregnant?

My period is late this month, and I'm afraid that I may be pregnant. Its been a week now and it has never been this late. The weird thing is, though, my partner and I never actually had actual sexual intercourse (in other words, there was no penetration). I'm wondering if the wet environment could still be a risk. can i actually be pregnant from that?? I'm hoping that it's due to stress with finals coming on thats causing this delay, but I am more worried about my period than finals now. should i take a pregnancy test or is it just a false alarm and my period is just late? How long should I wait before getting tested?

There are a lot of reasons your period can be delayed, you just mentioned one common one, which is stress. You can read more about these in an article written by Merely Me, a writer and community leader for this site, called, Reasons Other Than Pregnancy For a Delayed Period.

A home pregnancy test can be taken if your normal period is more than a week late. Or you can be tested by a doctor.

There would have to be some genital to genital contact or a transfer in some manner of sperm from the penis to your vagina. If kept moist, sperm could live up to an hour or so outside of the body.
