Can I get spotting to stop without taking birth control again?

About 4 or 5 months ago, I was told that I could possibly have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome by a doctor at a free women's health clinic. I was given birth control to help regulate my periods, which I hadn't had in about a year. The birth control did help to start my periods, however I decided to stop taking the birth control after the three month supply I was given. I stopped taking it 2 weeks ago and I got my period as I was supposed to, however, I've been spotty for about a week. I'm wondering if this is because I stopped taking birth control and if there is a way to stop it without going back to the birth control. I would rather not take it.

Thanks for any help!!

It is probably your body reacting to the loss of the birth control durg and it may take some time, months possibly, before a return to your pre-birth control pill state. That doesn't mean that something else responsible couldn't have also developed. You will have to decide when and if medical help is needed to investigate the cause.

Merely Me, a writer and commun ity leader for this site wrote an excellent article about PCOS a few months ago. You can find that article here. She also wrote one about ovarian cysts.
