I have had my period for 11 days when I usually only have it for 5 - 7 days.

Topics:long period 11 days

I am 29 years old and have been taking Tri-Nessa for over a year now with no problems. Instead of skipping a week I kept taking my pills (which I have done before) so the week I was suppose to get my period I didn't have it and then the next week I got my period. (Which happened last time even though I was still taking the pill) But it has now been 11 days that I've been having my period and I normally only have it for 5-7 days and I'm still on the pill. It's not a very heavy flow, but it doesn't seem to be going away. It was light a few days ago and mostly brown and then today it's all red again. I made an appointment with my gyno tomorrow morning but I would like to hear some possible reasons for this no matter how harsh it might be. Thank you.

There are a couple of articles I can refer you to. One is here at Health Central dealing with possible causes for bleeding between periods but some could apply. There is another article from the UK which might give you some information too. I think if it is not due to the changes you have been making with the pills, and I think that is why this is happening, then you may just have some fibroids or another common ailment.

Seeing the doctor is the absolute right thing to do, I do wish you the best at your appointment.
