It is commonly thought that a woman is fertile between the 10th and 17th days of their cycle. According to this theory, it wouldn't be possible to get pregnant during your period, which is at the beginning of the cycle. A study by the National Instistute of Environmental Sciences shows that this isn't necessarily true. Sperm can live inside a woman for five days, therefore women can become pregnant even if they have sex during their period.
