These are options for people who live in or near larger cities. But how about everybody else?
Cruising the Information Superhighway
Communities on the Web targeted specifically for queer youth can be a good way to meet friends and lovers, provided you proceed with caution. (For a list of resources, see below.) Keep your B.S. filter on, because there are folks online playing out fantasies and representing themselves with profiles that have no basis in reality. Keep in mind common sense rules such as meeting people for the first time in public places.
The bottom line is that dating is hard for everyone, queer or straight. Unlike heteros, who often look at campus as one big dating pool, queers do have to be more discerning and enterprising about finding ways to meet people to date. Don't be discouraged by the challenges. Instead, look at it this way: creativity, ingenuity and perseverance are qualities that will serve you well in all areas of your life.
