Women who develop gestational diabetes in their first or second pregnancy have a 630 percent increased risk of developing the condition in later pregnancies, a study has found. The study of more than 65,000 women found that Asian and Pacific Islander women were most at risk, as were women over the age of 30. Experts say this information is important because gestational diabetes needs to be identified and treated during early pregnancy.
