I have been prescribed Efudex for multiple actinic keritosis to be used twice daily for three weeks. However I was not given directions as to how to treat my skin otherwise. I.e. should I use moisturizer, make-up, etc and I have not found this info in other WEB sites about the treatment. Also I am scheduled for removal of a basal cell carcinoma near my nose but not until April. What effect will the Efudex have on that area?

Thanks so much for your post Elena. I am one of the moderators for this site. I searched our site and was not able to find any specific information about how to care for your skin during this kind of treatment.
So I send a note to our expert asking him to reply to your post directly. I'll follow back in the next day or so to see if you need more information.
All the best, SMM
Please have the expert reply to all so we can learn of the preferred skin care during treatment. It would help for sep. advice for normally dry or normally normal (?) or normally oily skin as they require different care. Several questions have been bandied about re: dryness, redness, soreness, etc. so it would help us all to know this. We don't think to ask when given the script.
Thanks!
Dear Barb:
Unfortunately, Our Experts are not able to answer all of the posts on the site. However, it would be our recommendation, regardless, to have you speak with your own physician on something like this. They may even have a nurses line that can answer the question without having to speak with the doctor directly.
I also was thinking maybe you might ask other posters on the Efudex thread by carmenworley what they do with their skin care. I think I have seen your name there -it looks to be a large following (27 posts and counting!) and someone is sure to have advice that might help.
Thanks so much for understanding - let us know what you find out and what works best for you and your skin!!
All the best, sue
