I have two skin cancers on my calves.  One was a basal cell that had been there for 5 years and looked like a wart.  The other was a squamous cell in situ.  I have had both removed during a biopsy and then my

Dr. followed up with a laser treatment.  His margins were 4 mm.  I am not sure whether I should have had to Mohs micro surgery instead.  Dr. said it was overkill for my cancers.  However, the recurrence rate is 5 to 10% with the laser and only 2 with Moh's.  The scars are circular.  One is the size of a nickel and the other a dime.  I am also being treated with Carac on my chest and have had 9 moles removed that came back O.K.  Just scared all the time.  Has anyone used laser as a follow up for these types of cancers?

Thanks so much for your post.

I'm not a medical professional, but as a moderator of this area I did take a look at some of the information on our Skin Cancer site.  It is basic information and does not seem to address your specific question. But you can read about it in our Other Skin Cancer section.

I'm also going to ask our site prodcuer to refer your question to one of our experts.  Hoping you can get an answer from on of them directly.

PLease come back and share more when you can - we are all here to help.

All the best, SMM
