    Dear Jenn,

Thanks so much for your post. I'm the moderator for the site and though not medically trained I'll do my best to help get you answers to your questions.

First, you really should try and discuss your concerns with your doctor. Having good communication with your physician is important for many reasons. Maybe you should go back to him or her and address your concerns. Remember that you can always find another doctor if this one is not the right fit.

You might want to read our Undersanding Skin Cancer section, specifically the Other Skin Cancers area where you'll find info on Basil Cell Carcinoma.

I hope this will help - all the best, sue (moderator)

Thanks Sue. Your right, i think the doctor was not right for me, He really didnt seem all that bothered and with me not understanding what was said during our appointment, i dont think he was a very approachable doctor.  I had left a message for him to ring me back, however so far he hasnt.  I do understand they are busy though.   I have now arranged a new appointment with a feamle doctor tommorrow and hopefully she will give me some reassurance.  The last few days have been awful for me and i have been beating myself up with worry.   Im going to speak to the doctor tommorrow before i make a choice of what to do next

    Jenn,

I used carac cream for 21 days and have already had scc removed from my nose and I was scared to death.  Blonde and blue eyes and tanned alot or should say burned alot..  I was told to use the cream Im glad I did. It is horrible but it is a good way to see what is going on with your skin.. I do feel you need a doctor that will listed and understands your anxiety and reassures you but is truthful.  Not all new is good news.  Say prayers and try to understand bcc is not going to go away by itself.  I have had 3 new precancers come up on the part of my nose between the nostrils and I am scared also because in two months if these are still there we are doing a biopsy.  I pray but sometimes I am fighting depression too.  I would do the treatment all over again if I had to.  It has opened my eyes to alot of things I did not know.  Your are welcome to reply and I will do my best to listen.  I understand your frustration and I believe alot of us do.. God Bless

    Hi Rhonda

Thanks for your response.  I did go back to see another doctor. I asked for a female this time also, as i thought she would be more approachable.  She was great and helped me understand more.  She said it was a small piece of sundamaged skin, and suggested burning it off there and then with liquid nitrigen.  I did this and now have a little blister on my nose but it should be gone within 2 week.  I feel so much better now.  The last few days before that were the longest hardest day i feel i have ever been through. I was really scared.  I thought i had cancer and them words are enough to scare anybody.  This experience had definately been a lesson for me.  Thanks for listening and feel free to keep in touch if you want to talk also.  I hope everything goes well for you in the future and you dont need to have a biopsy.

    Jenn,

Don't force the blister let it do its thing.  The skin should be pink under it and then turn natural skin tone.  Believe me the skin cancer diagnosis is scary glad you are ok.  I also feel good about you having a doctor to communicate with that answers questions.Big Smile

Jenn, what has happened? I too am suspected of having bcc on the tip of my nose, but my doctor has taken out just a very small bit to send off to biopsy. Only when you have a biopsy, he said, do you know how to treat it. Hopefully you finally got a biopsy.
