Thanks Amy for a really informative post.  These kinds of data, then translated to the average person, are so important.  It is hard to know about this unless you are a trained medical professional. People need to know about their own bodies so they can help to identify problems sooner rather than later.

    All the best, sue

I am an Australian skin cancer doctor who lives and works in the skin cancer and sun damage epicentre of the world.I read with interest the article on chronic skin inflammation and skin cancer. I, along with other like minded Australian skin doctors,  are working on preventative skin health models which address chronic skin inflammation, pH balance and skin cancer. We are finding that if patients adhere to general skin health plans(with education, avoiding soap products, using glycolic acid and daily application of an SPF 30 + sunscreen  )that there seems to be a reduction in recurrence of precancerous and cancerous lesions.

I as other health professionals have watched the successful skin cancer prevention campaign that has been ongoing in Australia - it is impressive and your skin cancer rates have clearly declined.

I'm curious about your comments regarding "not using soap" - can you explain that a bit more??
