I'm so glad to hear from you!  It sounds like you have been through alot but that the path is full steam ahead for you!  This is great news.

I'm sure there are many physical and emotional pains with this kind of surgery. I hope you are bearing it all well and will continue to keep us updated.

All the Best, Sue

 Tracy,

You are only 31 and I feel like Im young at 44.  I feel happy for your progress,  I guess I never really thought all the tanning and sun would catch up with me and here I am...  I had mohs on my nose for squamous cell and they say that they got all that one but now I am on carac topical chemo,, and the spots are shining through....  What can we do in the summer to enjoy it without hiding from everything.,,,, I'm so depressed....

I have two cancers - on both sides of my nose.  First Mohs scheduled for the 24th of June.  We'll see how I heal and do the other side after that.  Thank you for sharing your experience.  It has helped me!

Hope you are healing well.  I've had 4 MOHS procedures and another 6 surgeries on my back and legs.  My MOHS went well -- 3 of the scars (two on my nose) are virtually unseen.  One on my eyebrow is also hard to see; the one on my cheek has gotten better, but it's still very noticable.

I'd recommend rubbing the scar with a cream or Mederma or even Polysporin as soon as you can stand the pain.  It breaks down the scar tissue and helps decrease any raised areas.

Has anyone used Aldara for the AK's?  I've used Carac with some success but have yet another AK on my nose that hasn't responded to freezing or Carac so we're trying the Aldara before scheduling a biopsy....

best wish.

Hey everyone:

I had a BCC removed from my forehead last month and things are progressing well.  Although at first I felt like the bandage was so obvious, I realized after a few days that I just didn't care if everyone saw it!  (Besides, now I look like Harry Potter :)

By the way, to reduce scarring, my doctor recommended I buy Vitamin E capsules, split them open and rub into the scar.  Has anyone heard of this?  Also: When did everyone stop wearing the steri-strips?  I've been reapplying them for about a month now.

I found you on the internet this morning.  I had surgery last week and I wanted to hear from someone who had gone through surgery and someone I could relate to and share my feelings about this surgery.  It was a shock to my life and sometimes I feel like no one really understands what its like.  Sitting up in the room and waiting for someone to come tell you they need to take more of your nose off and being the last one there.  I went by myself and had my boyfriend come back and pick me up.  I know he was trying to be supportive but the look on his face and the tear on his check said the whole picture.  When they gave me the mirror I thought I would throw up.  I am greatful that it is over for now but future reacurances scare me.  I had already had surgery in 2004 that the doctor did not get it all and really made a mess of it.  Then to top it off my sister called last night to tell me that my mother had died of the same cancer thirty years ago.  I had always ask what type of cancer she had died from and they said it was her smoking.  I know she meant well and after 2004 didn't want me upset.  I forgive her but it was still a shock.  I know your post has been a while but if you get this post please E-mail me.  I would love to have someone to talk to...                 Myiababie4@aol.com
