Scarred / Scared

By Dan_ Friday, February 09, 2007
This goes back quite a bit, but I'm wondering what everyone else's experience has been with this...

Almost ten years ago I went to a dermatologist because my parents were concerned about my, as they put it, "beauty marks." I wasn't concerned because I was a teenager, and totally invincible. The dermatologist was somewhat concerned, and ended up removing two moles from my back. Not a big deal at all.

The tests came back negative--nothing abnormal at all. But here is where the problem starts--my dermatologist left sizable scars! Seriously, these were tiny, tiny "beauty marks," but the marks from the stitches seemed huge! Even ten years later, I can still see the marks not only from the minor surgery, but each stitch. On one hand, it looks kind of cool because I can claim that I was in a knife fight, or was shot several times, but on the other, it seems like a bit of a waste.

I've met a number of people who have had moles removed (seems like there are millions of us out there...), but they have tiny or completely nonexistant scars! Am I being picky here, or did my dermatologist just have a bad day?
