I am 5 years out from radical neck surgery.  3 months ago a lesion appeared on the side of my tongue, at the port of radiation from 5 years ago.  Doctors are reluctant to do a biopsy.  The site will not heal and is painful.  The pain now shoots up to the ear.  What can I apply to the site to aid healing, if anything.?

I have been told to grin (hard to do) and bear it.

Hi Beverly, would love to help out here, but need some more info... what do you mean by neck surgery?

Thanks!

the surgery was for neck cancer; the site was base of tongue of which 75% was removed, the entire right neck muscle and carotid were affected as well as almost all lymph nodes were removed...followed by 6 weeks of radiation.  Most recent diagnosis after 6plus doctors is a mouth ulcer ??
