Hi everyone. Today I want to talk about something I hope none of you have to encounter--the sentinal lymph node biopsy. This is a procedure done by surgeons in order to identify if high risk tumors have started to spread, or metastasize, in order to determine the prognosis. I ho...
I had a deep tumor removed my jawline down too my neck and also lip. My suergeon removed the lympth nodes. it was very very deep. I thought it was a small blackhead and kept trying too get something out of it. All though i never had acne i assumed i must be getting one. My point is this i waited 6 months before i went too the dr. and nearly lost my life not counting all the pain and suffering. If anyone ever has a little black spot get too the dr. immrdiately. It is vital. i am very scarred and the plastic suergon promised too do some cosmetic surgery the following Oct and it would be paid for because the cancer caused it. He did a skin graf amd sewed all this on. Well when he removed it and the stitches i felt sick. I asked him would it begin too look any better as time went along. I guess he thought i was critizing him which i was not and he literally started screaming at me you have cancer you have cancer. I began too sob and immediately left his office . He did not contact me too come back so i had too find another dr. That was the worst day of my life and i would rather have died than be humiliated the way i was.
I understand that an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure, but the thing is that no one knows for sure just how far out we are from finding a cure. In the mean time though, I think it's more important to focus on the tasks at hand - for instance, methods of treatment for those who already have it. Having survived breast cancer myself, I found it a little frustrating that there was this relatively huge amount of support for breast cancer research, and little for those who are currently suffering. It's not that I don't appreciate all these donation commercials and pink ribbon stickers for your car and what not, but those do nothing for the ones like me, who have already undergone treatment, and are now focusing onbreast reconstruction and getting their lives back.
