I've had a long history of basil cells. Never any melonoma, Thank God. I had some sites bleeding and went in to the hopsital derm clininc and they want to do MOHS on me on my fac in four sites. I've had MOHS twice and its very aggressive. The last one took five months to heal. I'm a professional and work int he public and told them that i simply dont want to be cut up and bandaged for months again. I have no bleeding now, only an ocassional spot that goes away. Nothing serious like when i went in before.
My question is, is there a less aggressive treatment for basil cell carcinomas. I've had chemical creme treatments, effudex was very effective and had aldura three years ago. It was terrible and i'd never have it again. Is there anything else other than drastic surgery? Thanks

I read your article and am a little relieved, but still scared at 69yrs old and never expected to ever get this. My derm. recieved my biopsy and said it was basal,it is approx. one quarter of an in.in diameter.I am waiting for my consultation this coming week.I have no idea when the surgery will be and I am afraid this is taking too long. What kind of surgeon should I be looking for and should I be worried about how long its been going on?It just kept scabbing but never healing.
It(my biopsy)came back positive for Basal cancer
