How long do I continue daily wash, vinegar/water soak, vaseline, and bandage, after Mohr's surgery?

Topics:Morh's surgery followup care

My 85 yr old father had Mohr's surgery for squamos cell on his left ear in August. Our daily followup was wash with soap, 10 minute vinegar/water wash, dry, apply vaseline and bandage. The cartilage at the anti-helix was completely exposed (about 2 inches). The skin has filled in under, and on the sides of the cartilage. The top of the cartilage still has not covered completely with skin.  There is no open wound anywhere. The ear looks normal, except for the top layers of skin over the cartilage. Do we need to keep up our daily routine until all layers of the skin has grown back? A second followup with the doctor is not until late January. Thanks!

You need to call his office and describe this "current healing state' and allow his nurse or the doctor himself to weigh in. It would be incorrect to let an outside person who cannot see the site make a determination.  It's a reasonable telephone call to make.
