Pregnant with skin cancer

Tara

Hello,I just got a call from my doctor that 2 of the samples they removed, one from my face and the other from my chest, are skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma). I have a few questions that are concerning me: -I am 32 weeks pregnant. Is the Mohs surgery safe for a pregnant woman and her baby? -I noticed the one on my face about a year ago but thought it was nothing until it did not go away. It is a small bump above my eyebrow and grew very slowly. Does this mean I caught it late and it is more likely to have spread? -When should I have the surgery? The dermatologist I went to is going to be out of town for a few weeks. Do I need to find someone else or is it okay to wait a few weeks? Thank you in advance for answering my questions. I am very worried and would like any advice you can give me.

MOH's is the perfect answer and quite safe during pregnancy.  Get a dermatologist's opinion specifically on whether it is OK to wait or whether you need immediate attention (since a year has passed with that first lesion).  Take heart in the fact that if MOHs is done - all the cancer cells will be removed with the least disfigurement and this is a prcedure with excellent outcomes.  Get an opinion and then decide if you an wait for that specific dermatologist.
