Q: I have a lesion on the back of my left calf.

It's been there for about three weeks.  The first time I saw it it was bleeding/oozing slightly and was quite itchy.  I thought it was a spider bite and put some Stingos on it.  It no longer oozes but appears to become quite raised and thick.  It is about 8 mm in diametre and is a light pink/fleshy colour.  My mother had a malignant melanoma from a large mole which she had removed just in time as it had grown really large.  I am vigilant about checking moles on my body because of my mom's history.  I am due for a visit to the dermatologist and was wondering if I should point this lesion on my calf out to him.

That's a no-brainer.  YES.

If it has been there that long, is bigger than a pencil eraser, is uncomfortable in any way, is asymetrical and more than one color on any portion, get to your doctor for evaluation, even if you have to borrow cab fare to do it.
