Q: My wife has basal cell skin cancer; will moving to a place with cloudy weather help her?

I know the sun can still be dangerous on cloudy days, but it seems moving to say, Portland, from sunny Utah would help avoid some future trouble with skin cancer.

I don't think there is much support for that theory. Like this article says, the prevalent attitude is that clouds offer little protection from ultraviolet light radiation. It seems to be more an issue of avoiding the sun at certain times and using sunscreen whenever we go out into it. Of course now there are studies suggesting we don't get enough sunlight to manufacturer a proper Vitamin A balance, for which we are urged to take supplements. Good luck to you both.
