Q: What should I expect to see on a skin graft after mohs surgery on my right nostrel?

After one week most of it is pink but one edge appears dark. Might be old blood, might not? Is this normal?

Hello!

I know you must be feeling anxious to know how this will heal and what things should look like.  I think you should call your doctor and ask what is normal and what is not.

In the meantime here is what our Doctor Kevin Berman has to say about skin graft scars:

"Procedures such as grafts and flaps can sound scary but there is no reason to fear them. The scars are often hidden in the regular folds and wrinkles that we all have on our faces! Usually, stitches on the face are removed about one week after the procedure and then the scar continues to heal and over time, the scar will become less noticeable. Surgeries performed near the eyes often result in bruising causing the appearance of "black eyes" for several days after surgery."

I would definitely call your doctor to get more information about how things may heal.

Thank you for your question.
