Q: I saw a video on the internet that stated there is a lotion that gets rid of actinic keratosis spots but leaves healthy tissue alone. Is this true? What is it called?

I have over a dozen actinic keratosis lesions on my face. I am virtually house bound by my suddenly monsterous appearance and I'm only 46! My doctor has tried freezing them but to no avail. I've been to Mayo and all they gave me was hydrocortizone because I had picked at a few of them. HELP ME, PLEASE!

Hello Leta

I am so sorry this is happening.  Did you see this video here on Health Central?

Here is our information about actinic keratosis and there you will find information about different treatment options including topical medications.  In this article by Dr. Kevin Berman you will find a description of these topical lotions to treat keratoses.  Please know that these topical creams are not without side effects.

I would research all the treatments and then perhaps see another doctor who will be able to effectively treat you.

Hope this helps some.  Thank you for your question.

According to my Dermatologist, the topical cream Eufedx or better named, Fluorouracil, does this.  I'm actually experience really bad headaches, mostly behind the rt. eye, for the past 3 days.
