Q: Mother had a mole removed from her back. path report was SCC in-situ. is she going to die?

My mother is 66 yrs. old and had a mole removed 2 weeks ag on her back. It was very large. Her OBGYN removed it, because the Dermotologist in town told her it was not cancer, and he would not remove it. But it was at the bottom of her bra area, so it rubb it all the time. So her OBGYN said he would, he had just done a hysterectomy on her in Jan of this yr. and we were going back for her 6 mo. check up from that when all this transpired. she had the stitches removed last Wednesday, and on Thusrsday the insension had busted open, and she had to go back in to see the nurse. I have made her an appt. with another Dermotologist, on the 18th of Sep. was the earlist we could get in. Is this something I need to be concernd abot? I am her only daughter, and her care taker.

If it was a deep incision then sutures opening can allow for infection or an abcess to develop so i would indeed get her back in to see a surgeon/dermatologist or health professional to have the area cleaned and closed again.  they can determine if she neds any antibiotics.  Did you also get a final pathology report - if not , followup on that as well.  You need to see that the path report was read as negative.
