Q: Can 2 or more episodes of squamous cell cancer on one's face metastize to other parts of the body?

In 1975 I had a basal cell carcinoma with extensive dysplasia removed from the left side of my nose.  In 1985 I had a squamous cell cancer removed from the tip of my nose via Mohs technique.  In 2004 I had a squamous cell cancer removed from the right side of my face (Mohs).  For the past year, off and on, I have had several episodes of swelling in the lymph nodes of my neck, especially on the right side.  Today I was told by an ENT physician that repeated bouts of skin cancer can eventually metastize elsewhere in the body, especially in the neck.  Is this true? and if so, how can it be positively diagnosed and treated????
