I frequently get large painful cysts on my face and they are filled with alot of blood and sometimes watery. I don't know if stress seems to bring these on. I think so. I am 42 years old and never really had a big poblem with acne. These are very embarrassing and painful. I usually prick them with a needle to relieve some of the blood and pressure but it doesn't always help. The amount of blood that comes out of these cysts is unbelievable. I thougt maybe it would be a sign of something more than acne such as high blood pressure? Or I have not ruled out a herpes outbreak on my face or even an allergy to something. I work in a dental office 3 days a week and it seems like I get them when I work. Maybe stress or an allergic reaction to something. I told my physician and she gave me a testosterone blocker which I don't take to get rid of it. I'm afraid of the side effects and that it will make me tired. I have taken phentermine for the past year on and off. Maybe twice a week at this point and I wondered if this could be related to that medication but when I don't take it the symptoms still occur. Any suggestions?

hello ive just joined this site,i have had the same problem as yours for many years im 47 f,i think it is do with stress,ive had thes on my face too,usually on my chin or recently on my cheek i too have had to use a needle,and the cyst is so painfull you just got to get it all out,i was real fed up ive tried loads of different stuff but ive got this new antibiotic cream from my doctor its called dalcin topical lotion,its like a roll on with antibiotic cream it FANTASTIC i use it every day(even to prevent)i know what your going through,jee wiz im going through enough with the skin cancer an all but i stil get those dam cyst on my face,hope you can get to try this ,its the only thing that works for me (fingers crossed)

I don't really have an answer for you, but I have the same problem and have just recently been diagnosed with a possible hormone imbalance. I go for testing tomorrow which will tell alot about my pituitary gland (which secretes all of puberty and pregnancy hormones) and my thyroid, etc. I went to the doctor initially for my nipple is secreting green discharge and is sore. I'm sure after my own research that the two are connected. I will know more in a few days. The pituitary gland also has been proven to overact due to stress ( I have alot right now).

Only 1

I just recently went through a similar situation. I am 24yrs old and have never really had issues with acne till recently. I've gone through so many different creams, pill, and even diet altering changes to help prevent further breakouts. It seems like these blood filled abscess could be caused by stress. I'll for sure have a better understanding in a few weeks after my derma appt. Good luck, I hope things get better.
