My dermatologist told me that I have a few AK's and gave me a prescription for Carac. I looked up the Carac lotion/cream when I got home and the treatment really concerns me due to the fact that I work at a maximum security prison where MRSA, staff infections, and other infectious diseases are common. The open skin due to the affects of the Carac is what I'm worried about. My question to some of you who have went through the Carac treatment is would you suggest that I take time off work while using the Carac? He wants me to do 14 days. Thanks for any help. RKH

This is an excellent question for your doctor who will be in the best position to advise you about what your real risks are in going to work and using Carac cream.
In the meantime here is some information from our site about using Carac cream and what to expect.
Here too is the official Carac site. From what I can glean, you most likely will experience a skin reaction and possibly pain, swelling, and irritation. So it may be wise to ask your doctor about working while you use this cream. I cannot tell you your risk of infection...this is something your doctor will have to advise you about.
