Can I use neosporin or desoximetasone on a spot that is probably actinic keratosis?

One derma. said the small spot on my forehead was actinic keratosis and should be frozen off.   My second opinion said it was "probably" an AK but she would rather just watch it and not freeze until it got bigger.    In the meantime, I've noticed that neosporin seems to make it begin to fade away, but I've been afraid to use it for more than a few days.    Also, I have a prescription for desoximetason from a case of eczema.   Would that maybe help this spot, and can desoximetason be safely used on my face?   Alternatively, the second doc also gave me a small sample of MetroGel, and said I could "try that" on the spot, but I've been afraid to, because MetroGel is for rosacea and it appears from the literature to have side effects.   Can someone give me some advice?   I'm afraid to freeze a spot on my face!

A punch biopsy would finalize the definitive diagnosis.  Using neosporine on a non-infected area would not make it disappear.  Don't use anything else on this area - I'd go back to the first doctor and simply try and find out "why not biopsy" - the freezing treatment would then be easily determined as "needed or not."

If it bothers you in terms of knowing what it is - get a biopsy.
